Into the High Valleys
Both treks depart from or near Vaadi. We arrange guides, permits, and provisions — you bring your boots and your curiosity.
Kuari Pass
One of the finest panoramic treks in Uttarakhand. The trail climbs through oak and rhododendron forests to Kuari Pass at 3,650 m, where you stand face-to-face with the entire Nanda Devi sanctuary, Dronagiri, Hathi Ghoda, and Kamet.
- Nanda Devi sanctuary views
- Rhododendron forests
- Shepherd meadows
- Accessible from Vaadi
Chitrakantha Peak
Most visitors stop at Gorson Bugyal or Auli meadows. Chitrakantha sits above them at 3,900 m — the peak that crowns the bugyal. A quieter, less-travelled climb with unobstructed 360° views of Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Kamet that few people ever see.
- Summit at 3,900 m
- Above Gorson Bugyal
- Nanda Devi 360° views
- Off the tourist trail

The Land Around Us
Half-day and full-day outings that need no special fitness level — just an appetite for local life and mountain air.
Chopta & Tungnath
Drive three hours through the Mandal valley to Chopta, the "Mini Switzerland of India." From there, a 3.5 km trek leads to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world at 3,680 m, with views stretching from Nanda Devi to Chaukhamba.

Slow hours, well spent
Not every moment needs a destination. Some of the best ones happen on the veranda.
Stargazing
At 1,800 m with no town lights for miles, the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye on clear nights. Best on new moon evenings; we keep a pair of binoculars and a simple star chart at Vaadi.
Birdwatching
The pine and rhododendron forests around Vaadi host over 200 species. Dawn walks along the ridge trail turn up Himalayan monals, verditer flycatchers, and bar-tailed treecreepers with regularity.
Reading by the fire
A curated shelf of books on Himalayan travel, natural history, and Garhwali culture. Evening bonfires in the garden when the weather allows, always with a pot of ginger chai close by.
